Easiest Banana Ice Cream Ever
If you are a parent of a Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood fan, you already know exactly what i am talking about. However, even before Daniel Tiger made his popular “Banana Swirl” treat, some people were already enjoying this frozen treat. My children really see this as ice cream and everyone should, because the texture is so smooth and ice cream like, it’s hard to believe that it only contains one ingredient : BANANAS!
To prepare this banana ice cream, follow these simple steps:
1. Slice and freeze bananas
Cut bananas in slices approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. There is no particular magic number of bananas to slice and freeze, just whatever you have on hand. Frozen bananas can last for several weeks in the freezer just fine if tightly sealed container. Freezer safe glass containers are always recommended, as opposed to plastic.
2. Blend VERY well
You certainly don’t want any clumps or still frozen chunks in your banana ice cream, so make sure it is well blended before dishing it all out.
A small electric food chopper is perfect for frozen bananas. This is the one i use:
If you want to mix it up, try adding different fruits and see what happens! In my home, we also enjoy pineapple- banana “ice cream” and peanut butter- banana “ice cream”.
